Understated Leather was created by Jennifer Kassell. Jen’s background in the fashion industry began 15 years ago, and involves everything from global fashion buying, to being a fashion director for Australia’s largest eCommerce boutique and opening her own showroom in New York, before starting Understated Leather.
After a hectic couple of years living in the States between New York and Los Angeles, Jen settled in Austin, and decided to stop, take a deep breath and rediscover what was important and fulfilling to her. From that reflection, Understated Leather was born – an unpretentious brand focused on unique, high quality product. Jenfuses her chic Australian roots with her Texan lifestyle creating a refreshing & relatable Aussie-Americana vibe.
Since the brand's inception in 2014, Understated Leather has been featured in global publications such as Vogue Paris, Russh Magazine, WWD & Vogue.com. The brand has a cult celebrity following which includes Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Bella Hadid, Rita Ora, January Jones, Kendall Jenner, and Erin Wasson.
